1. Purple Line Metro Faces Overcrowding
Within a week of the inauguration of Namma Metro’s Purple Line, the six-coach trains are already facing problems of overcrowding as per a report by The Hindu. There are long queues, and impatient passengers who are facing severe inconveniences while travelling. With the opening of the entire Purple Line stretch there is a surge in commuters. Yet, the frequency of trains remains low. So, passengers are now demanding either higher frequency in trains or more coaches fitted in each train.

2. Karnataka Launches 30 Non-AC Sleeper Buses, “Pallaki”

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) recently launched a new non-AC bus service line called ‘Pallaki’. These buses are equipped with 30 sleeping berths along with facilities to charge mobiles and laptops. Also, passengers have dedicated mobile holders and shoe racks fixed in every berth. To ensure the safety of passengers, there’s a special fire detection system installed.
3. ISRO Chairman S Somanath Awarded Honorary Doctorate

ISRO Chairman S Somanath was recently awarded the honorary doctorate by Bangalore University for his incredible contributions to the recently-launched Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1 missions. As he couldn’t be part of the 58th annual convocation of the university to receive the award, he sent a video message thanking the University for the honour. Moreover, he dedicated the award to every scientist, engineer and technician at ISRO for making India proud.

4. Attibele In Bangalore May Not See Cracker Shops This Diwali
Following a tragic fire mishap at Balaji Traders, a firecracker shop in Attibele located on the outskirts of Bangalore, the district may not see cracker shops this year. The unfortunate event claimed 17 lives and Karnataka Police are investigating this matter and cracking down on fireworks shops in the area. Many of these fireworks shops store more fireworks than permitted in the license and they fail to equip their stores with proper emergency exits.
5. Woman Asked To Reduce Luggage Weight By 100g At Bangalore Airport
A woman flying from Bangalore to Delhi was asked to reduce her baggage weight by 100g to avoid excess baggage. The automated drop machine at Bangalore airport refused to accept the luggage despite the weight difference being a very minor one. Her check-in luggage weighed 15.1 kg, just 100g more than the stipulated weight limit. But she wasn’t pardoned.
6. 13-YO & 10-Yo Sisters Become World’s Youngest Certified Scuba Divers
Bangalore-based sisters, 13-year-old, Ruchi and 10-year-old, Ovee Mehta are the world’s youngest certified scuba divers. Their father, Neeraj Malve is the father of Mountaineering Club, who is also a scuba diver with 16 years of experience. He encouraged his daughters’ passion for the waters. Ovee and Ruchi created history in Puducherry.
