Taking the vision of a digitized India ahead, the Delhi & Bangalore airports on 75th Independence Day, have announced the launch of the beta version of the DigiYatra (DY) App. The launch of this app ensures a step toward paperless domestic air travel under the government’s ambitious “DigiYatra”. The iOS version of the app will soon be made available, however, the DY app for Android users is already up on Google Play Store. Both the Delhi and Bangalore airports have shown immense happiness after the launch of the beta version of the paperless check-in app. The Digi Yatra project is led by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Government of India. Delhi & Bangalore Airports Tested The Digi Yatra App On Passengers
On August 15, 2022, both Delhi & Bangalore airports shared the happy news of the launch of the new Digi Yatra app. The official Twitter handle of Bangalore airport took to Instagram to share glimpses from the launch and testing of the beta version of the Digi Yatra app. Pictures from the launch were shared with the caption, “At #BLRAirport the beta version of Digi Yatra biometric boarding system was tested on passengers traveling domestic sector on Vistara & Air Asia flights. The Digi Yatra project is led by the Ministry of Civil Aviation @MoCA_GoI & the Government of India. #digiyatra #digiyatraapp.”
Delhi Airport’s official Twitter handle too revealed the launch of the beta version of the paperless check-in app on the eve of Independence day. What Do Both The Airports Say On The Launch Of The New App?
Bangalore International Airport revealed that the biometric boarding system has become operational at Kempegowda International Airport’s e-gates and is being rolled out at full scale for all domestic airlines in a phased manner. “Privacy issues are taken care of and passengers will not have to worry about sharing their data as it is secure and will be deleted after 24 hours following their travel,” said the airport. TOI also revealed Delhi International Airport Limited stating, “Domestic passengers flying from the Delhi airport’s Terminal 3 can download the app and register themselves for a seamless travel experience. With the help of facial recognition technology, passengers’ entry will now be automatically processed at all checkpoints, including entry into the airport, security check areas and aircraft boarding.”
