Delhi Is The Most Unsafe City For Women Followed By Mumbai And Bengaluru

The latest reports by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) states that last year about two minor girls were raped every single day. This made the national capital the most unsafe city for women across the whole country. The latest report of NCRB showed 13,892 cases of crimes against women were recorded in Delhi in 2021 which is 40 percent more than the year 2020 when there were 9,782 cases. 

Delhi Accounts The Most Cases Of Crimes Against Women. 

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) states that Delhi accounted for about 32.20 percent of total crimes against women in the category among 19 metropolitan cities. Delhi has the highest number of cases against women under categories like girl child rapes, kidnapping and domestic violence compared to other metropolitan cities. The latest data also showed that about two minor girls were raped every single day in 2021. The national capital had about 13,892 cases of crimes against women in 2021 out of 43.414 which is the number of total crime cases in all 19 cities. NCRB also recorded about 36.26 percent of total deaths, accounting to 136 cases of dowry deaths that were registered in Delhi in 2021.

After Delhi, Mumbai And Bengaluru Account The Most Cases Of Crimes

The 19 metropolitan cities recorded a total of 8,664 cases of abduction and kidnapping of women. Out of the total 8,664 cases, about  3,948 cases  were registered in Delhi itself. Last year, Delhi reported 2,022 cases of assault on women. NCRB also stated that about 833 cases of girl child rape which is the highest among the 29 metropolitan cities. In 2021, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (girl child victims only), about 1,357 cases were reported. The data also stated that the financial capital of the country, Mumbai ranked second with 5,543 cases of crime against women. The next city, which ranked third with about 3,127 cases is the IT capital of India, Bengaluru.
