India To Get Asia’s Largest Wildlife Highway Corridor On Delhi-Dehradun Expressway

With The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway coming to life, India will soon get another reason to be proud of! The Expressway is currently under construction and once operational, will be home to Asia’s largest wildlife highway corridor. It will reduce travel time between the two cities from 6 to 2.5 hours and even protect wildlife. Yes you heard it right! Asia’s 12 km largest wildlife corridor now forms a huge chunk of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and is currently under construction in Rajaji National Park. The Last 20km Of The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Passes Through An Eco Sensitive Zone Of Asia’s Longest Wildlife Corridor

The meeting of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and Asia’s Longest Wildlife Corridor at a common point is such a delight for India. It brings in a lot of good news for the country. Speaking about the same, the official handle of the Ministry of Information and broadcasting took to Twitter and wrote, “Building #NewIndia through #PragatiKaHighway

To Protect wildlife & reduce travel time too. Travel time between Dehradun-Delhi to come down to 2.5 hrs.” The tweet also . has pictures that show that once the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway becomes operational, the travel time between Delhi and Hardiwar too will be reduced from 5 hours to 2 hours.

The Delhi to Dehradun Expressway Project Has A Budget Of Over 12,000 Crores

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to be operational from next year and is being constructed with an estimated budget of over 12,000 Crores. The Expressway has four main phases –
Phase 1 from Akshardham to Baghpat
Phase 2 from Baghpat to Saharanpur
Phase 3 from Saharanpur to Ganeshpur and
Phase 4 from Ganeshpur to Dehradun.
Once the four phases are complete, the expressway will be ready to operate and help reduce travel time for the commuters.
The 210 km Delhi-Dehradun Expressway whose foundation stone was laid by Nitin Gadkari on February 26, 2021, is a project by NHAI that got approval in 2020 under the Bharatmala Pariyojana’s Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.
