The alarming surge in the number of coronavirus cases has created a dearth of quarantine spaces in several countries worldwide. With the total number of cases crossing 500, India is now at a critical stage of the pandemic. The centre is thus urging the states to raise funds to set up new hospitals to cater to the increasing number of patients. While the entire nation has been pushed indoors, this Gurdwara in Delhi is creating space for new patients.
What’s Happening?
One of the oldest and magnificent Sikh shrines in the Capital, Majnu ka Tilla has opened its doors to set up isolation wards for the treatment of the ones affected by COVID-19. As informed by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee ( DSGMC), all the 20 rooms of the inn with modern amenities have been allotted for the cause.

What’s More?
The Gurdwara isn’t just assisting the patients, it’s taking into account the safety of the health staffs too. To ensure that they aren’t infected with the virus, separate rooms have been provided to them as well. Also, the parking zone of the Gurudwara is wide enough to station a good number of vehicles.
Free Food For Everyone
Apart from shelter, the Gurudwara is also giving away langar or free food to every patient and health official within the premises. That’s not all. The people out here are rolling out food packets even to the poor and needy, who are affected most by the lockdown and are fighting hunger issues.
