BMC has announced that some parts of Mumbai will witness a 100 per cent water cut and some others will witness a 25 per cent water cut.

The sweltering heat of April in Mumbai is finally upon the city. Unfortunately, the two days of April 18 and 19 will be tougher on some Mumbaikars than others. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC has announced that some parts of Mumbai will witness a 100 per cent water cut and some others will witness a 25 per cent water cut. The reason for this is repair works are being undertaken on channels.

According to an article which was recently published by the Free Press Journal or the FPJ, major repair work on water channels will take place in these two days. The upper Vaitarna main channel and Dharavi Navrang Compound channel will be worked on.

Subsequently, the areas of the Bandra Terminus, Bandra Station, Dharavi Loop Marg, Naik Nagar and Prem Nagar will face a 100 per cent water cut. Ganesh Mandir Marg, Dilip Kadam Marg and Mahim Phatak Marg in Dharavi will also be affected.

Areas like AKG Nagar, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, MP Nagar, Sant Kakkaya Marg, and Sion-Mahim Link Road will witness a water cut of 25 per cent. The BMC has advised the people of these areas to use water carefully during this time. Incidentally, these are all areas where the poor and middle-class people of Mumbai reside.

Other Important Details About This Water Supply Disruption

The Upper Vaitarna main channel has a diameter of 2,400 millimetres and the Dharavi Navrang Compound has a diameter of 450 millimetres. The work on these channels commenced from 10 AM on April 18 and will continue till 4 AM on Friday.

During this time, the people of the area have been advised to use water carefully so as to not waste it. Summer is fast approaching and the heat in the city is only going to increase. The lack of water during this time will, no doubt, cause a lot of discomfort.
