Did You Know That ‘Kesariya’ Was Reshot In Varanasi After Karan Johar Didn’t Like The Original Video?

Kesariya — the iconic love ballad from Brahmastra — is on everyone’s playlist. The romantic song of the year features actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt romancing on the idyllic lanes of Varanasi. But did you know that this wasn’t the original music video of Kesariya? In fact, Dharma Production head honcho, Karan Johar made Brahmastra director, Ayan Mukerji, reshoot Kesariya in Varanasi. Here’s all about it.

Karan Johar Disliked Original Kesariya Music Video

In an event held at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Ayan Mukerji and Karan Johar spilt the beans about their differences of opinions while shooting Brahmastra. According to a report by Indian Express, Ayan Mukerji revealed that the OG Kesariya video was miles apart from the one we’ve fallen in love with today. Apparently, Ayan Mukerji’s version of Kesariya featured a massive Kaali Puja sequence.

In Karan Johar’s words, Ranbir Kapoor danced quite “feverishly” in that video. The ace producer found the Kesariya video ‘terrible’. He hilariously asked Ayan what was wrong with him. And why were the actors dancing? Karan Johar urged Ayan to reshoot Kesariya. So, the tune and melody remained the same. But the video was treated very differently.

Well, the Brahmastra director later shot Kesariya in Varanasi’s ghats and winding streets. In the new video, the protagonists also paid respects to the divine at the iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
