The season of Hajj is nearly here and for 2024, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is taking all the necessary precautions to ensure there are no contract violations for domestic pilgrims, especially over accommodations. Yes, for this, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced that domestic pilgrims will be entitled to compensation if they experience accommodation violations by service providers. For Hajj 2024, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is doing everything in its power to ensure it is a seamless experience for pilgrims. Yes, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently revealed that if domestic pilgrims face housing delays in the holy city of Mecca or any other sacred site they will be compensated. This compensation is valid if the delay exceeds two hours. And for this, they will get 10% of the value of the reserved accommodation package. In a report by Gulf News, it was mentioned that this is being done to safeguard domestic pilgrims against accommodation violations often committed by respective service providers.

A Higher Penalty For Repetition

It’s worth noting that there’s also a penalty against the company that’s involved! Yes, the penalty can be toughened on repetition. So, this would result in the compensation reaching 15% of the value of the package. However, if the contracted company fails to provide housing, the service would be provided under Ministry service. Yes, and the cost would be borne by the firm! However, it should be noted that even if the accommodation is offered within two hours of arrival at the residence and it does not comply with the contract, the pilgrim would get 5% of the value of the package.

More Developments Regarding Hajj 2024

This development comes after Saudi Arabia opened e-registration for the citizens and foreign Muslims in the kingdom to perform Hajj. The ministry has launched four Hajj packages with prices ranging between SAR4,099 and SAR13,265. This range depends on the type of accommodation. Moreover, recently the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reaffirmed that women can perform without Maharam. Yes, it was highlighted that this requirement is not obligated for all pilgrimages. And it was also specified for 2024 that all domestic pilgrims must receive vaccinations. Yes, these should be against Neisseria Meningitis and seasonal influenza, as a part of registration. On a concluding note, it’s worth mentioning that the permissible age range for participants begins at 15 years with there being no maximum age limit.
