The country’s social and economic life pacing resulted in several legal changes. A new phase signalled a difference in the nation’s legal framework. The UAE Public Prosecution has stated that using the internet to participate in prostitution or other illegal sexual activities would result in jail and around Dh1 million punishment. On March 13, they announced these rules on social platforms.

Cybercrime Law With Fine Upto Dh1 Million

Individuals deliberately procuring pornographic materials using an electronic information system, computer network, electronic website, or any information technology will get imprisonment for at least 6 months and a fine between Dh150,000 and Dh1 million.

Dh100,000 Penalty For Harassing Women In Public

Indecent or degrading behaviour toward women is punishable under Articles 358 and 359 of the UAE Penal Code. In addition, Article 374 outlines the penalties that a person might face if they face sexual harassment at work. They curated these laws for the safety of women in the UAE.


Article 359 further clarifies that any male can’t disguise himself as a woman and access any venue only to women. Suppose the guy commits a crime while in this state; it can be an aggravating factor. The nation might consider it as another way to harass women. But the fine is less than Dh1 million.

Stringent UAE Law System Announces AED5000 Fine

The new law intends to safeguard accident victims’ privacy rights. Editing pictures or footage in order to defame somebody is also considered a punishable offence. This offence will result in a minimum of one year in prison and a fine ranging from Dh250,000 to Dh500,000, or both punishments. And anybody who stalks anyone faces up to six months in prison and a fine of Dh150,000 to Dh500,000, or both. It is equal to the above fine of AED5000. In the near future, these activities can lead up to fines of around Dh 1 million.
