Dubai Sells Second Most Expensive Car Plate In The World For AED 38 Million

Dubai is all about opulence and grandeur. Be it record-breaking malls or supercars and mega-mansions- the emirate has it all. We Dubai-ites are so used to seeing these supercars and everything rich nearly daily that we consider it regular now. However, what if we tell you that something surreal happened in Dubai which will surely stun you? Well, a Dubai car number plate has sold for a whopping AED 38 million, and here’s everything you must know about it.

An Anonymus Buyer Purchased AA9 Which Is The World’s Second Most Expensive Name Plate

Someone in Dubai bought a car plate number for AED 38 million, and we are in shock. The purchase of the single-digit number plate listed as AA9 makes it the world’s second most expensive number plate. The number plate was bought on May 1 at a charity auction named ‘Most Noble Numbers, which was raising money for the UAE’s ‘100 Million Meals’ Ramadan campaign. Now isn’t that wow?

The Auctions Was Organised By Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives

Well, in terms of the car plates, there were three-digit numbers too that were on sale. Number U31 was bought at AED 2.6 Million, followed by E51 for AED 2.45 Million. Besides this, two donors also donated AED 550,000 before the auction started. The anonymous buyer of the AED 38 million number plate said,

“I just want to say a big thank you to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for giving us this chance to be part of this charity programme.”

The anonymous buyer did a good deed by supporting the 100 Million Meals Ramadan campaign, which aims to provide parcels for disadvantaged people across 30 countries during Ramadan. In terms of the auction, it was organised by Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Etisalat, and Emirates Auction.
