Dubai’s RTA Expands Its ‘Bus On Demand’ To Business Bay To Offer Easy Commute To The Metro Station

United Trans operates the Dubai Bus on Demand, a ride-sharing programme offered in Dubai by Dubai Road and Transport Authority. After a successful month-long experiment, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has extended its “Bus on Demand” service to Business Bay.

Dubai Bus On Demand Service Extended

The service will make it simple for locals to get to the Business Bay Metro Station from their places of employment and residence. Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, Adel Shakri, stated that the choice to expand the “Bus on Demand” service to Business Bay is intended to improve the mass transportation system and reduce traffic in key locations. The programme also addresses the increasing need for the service in the Business Bay, the emirate’s central location for many corporate offices and enterprises.

Users of public transit have embraced the ‘Bus on Demand’ service, especially since it has recently expanded to include important locations including a metro and tram station. As a result, it offers a seamless public transport system that enables users to go where they’re going quickly and safely.

The programme uses a smart response mechanism to adjust bus availability based on passenger demand. Mini public buses are used for this service, connecting different locations. Customers can choose their journey itinerary from beginning to end and pay the appropriate charges via a smartphone app. The service connects consumers’ home regions to the closest mass transport stations and provides an inventive solution for first- and last-mile travel.

The Dubai Bus On Demand app, which is accessible on the Google Play Store and Apple Store for smartphones and other devices, powers the service. With variable timetables and times, the service covers a wide range of geographical areas with its 14-seater buses. Within the regions now served by the service—Al Barsha, Al Nahda, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Business Bay—drivers of these buses can interact directly with users through the app, enabling them to find the closest point to a user’s position.
