Park Street in Kolkata is one of the oldest streets in the city, carrying the grandeur of Kolkata’s past colonial heritage. For the longest time, when the city did not have as many restaurants on every corner as it has now, dining out meant going to Park Street. Currently, it has close to 50 restaurants and bars, each with its own distinct flavour and taste.

Here’s a list of 5 restaurants that you can consider dining at when in Park Street.

1. Peter Cat

Started in 1975, Peter Cat is one of the most popular restaurants in Kolkata. The yellow lights, the red-carpeted floors and a constant clatter of cutlery and conversations from different tables make it a lovely spot to spend time with friends and family. Chelo Kebab is their most renowned dish. But I love their Prawn Cocktails as appetisers; the tangy flavour is definitely a mood-setter.

If Mughlai cuisine has your heart, Kareem’s in Park Street is a must-visit. Start your meal with their Paya Shorba, a light soup made with mutton legs, full of nutrients that boost your appetite. They have an amazing selection of starters, mostly a variety of Kabab from all parts of India. Though their Malai Kabab is certainly the showstopper. The Biriyani is flavourful and strikes a perfect chord when it comes to satiating your desire for all things spicy.
