According to the International Astronomical Centre (IAC) in Abu Dhabi, Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on 11 August. The season of Haj will then kick off on 1 August.

What’s It?

Eid Al Adha 2019 is likely to fall on 11 August, the International Astronomical Centre (IAC) in Abu Dhabi revealed. The new lunar month of Zul Hijjah will then be born on 1 August. Eng Mohammed Shawkat, Director of the Centre, also added that there will be no dispute over the sighting of the new moon.

“Most Arab and Islamic centres will be able to easily and clearly see the new moon of Zul Hijjah by naked eyes and telescopes,” he said.

A few muslim and Arab countries will be able to see the Helal of Zul Hijjah on 1 August. The new moon will be visible through a telescope and naked eyes in some regions. That said, like every year, Saudi Arabia will announce the sighting of the Helal of Zul Hijjah, which will be approved by most other counties.

The season of Haj is expected to be born on 1 August at 7:11 am and will disappear 28 minutes after sunset. So, the first day of Zul Hijjah will most likely be on 2 August 2019.

Going by the list of public holidays this year, Arafat (Haj) day, is expected to fall on 10 August. Also public and private sectors will enjoy three days off- 11 – 13 August.

Last year, the new moon of Zul Hijjah was spotted on 12 August, 2018, and Eid Al Adha fell on 21 August.
