First ‘Made In India’ Dornier Aircraft To Fly On Dibrugarh-Pasighat Route

The first-ever ‘made in India’ Dornier 228 aircraft will fly between Dibrugarh in Assam and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. Operated by Alliance Air, the aircraft will help in giving a boost to the air connectivity in northeast India. The aircraft took its maiden flight on April 13, 2022, Tuesday from Dibrugarh to Pasighat. It received a grand welcome at the Pasighat airport with water cannons. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia and Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju were onboard the flight. Taking to Twitter, Scindia called the launch ‘A historic day for the North East’.

Air Alliance Becomes India’s First Commercial Airline To Operate A Made-In-India Aircraft

With the launching of this aircraft, Air Alliance has become the first commercial airline in India to operate a made-in-India aircraft. Dornier 228 is a 17-seater aircraft manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Dornier flights on the Dibrugarh-Pasighat route will run two times a week, starting April 18. This is the first time the Indian airline industry is deploying a made-in-India aircraft for civil aviation. Not only will the new route boost air connectivity, but it will also help in the economic growth of the region and can generate employment opportunities too. As per reports, the route will be extended soon to Tezu and Ziro.

Scindia Thanks Arunachal CM For Grand Welcome Of The Aircraft

Scindia has also thanked the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu for the grandiose welcome showered on the aircraft. He posted pictures with Khandu, donning a traditional look with Galuk, Dudap and Eyok.
