India is not for beginners — is one thing the Internet agrees on. It looks like an American founder also agrees with this after unfortunately having been scammed multiple times in the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru. Yet, his experiences have made him tougher and he has nothing but love for the city. From his luggage being stolen by a bus driver to being scammed into footing a hefty bill at the Taj, read on to know all about his adventures.

American Founder Scammed Multiple Times In Bengaluru

Tony Klor, the founder of Catoff Gaming spoke to Hindustan Times about being scammed multiple times as a foreigner in India. The American man founded this platform in Bengaluru to leverage blockchain technology for competing with buddies. He spent the last five months in the city building a team. While he has had many pleasant experiences in Garden City, he’s also been scammed many times.

He recollects the first time he set foot in Bengaluru to HT. A bus driver stole his luggage. But then managed to “find” it and return it to Tony for a small fee of 1000. On waking up on the night bus and enquiring about his luggage, he realised it was missing. But in just 10 minutes, the driver said he found it but demanded a fee for its return.

Scamster Made Him Foot Hefty Bill In Taj

Another time, the American founder met a man in Cubbon Park While he enjoyed vibing with the man who was cordial, things took an unexpected turn. The man invited him to a friend’s wedding and then took him to a five-star restaurant at Taj Bengaluru. The “kid” ended up ordering exorbitantly priced dishes along with cocktails. Tony also went to Commercial Street to purchase a kurta for the last-minute wedding, which they were supposed to attend together.

But when it was time to leave for the venue, the man told Tony that he couldn’t go as it was raining outside. That’s when Tony realised that he had been scammed. The Catoff Gaming founder also revealed smaller scams he had experienced in India. This included people in fake accidents tricking him into paying money and meeting fake monks who extorted him for cash. Yet, Tony has nothing but praise for Bengaluru.

He said that instances like these made him tougher. Tony Klor called Bengaluru a “highly intellectual place”. He found the people to be “sophisticated” and “absolutely brilliant”.
