1.  Oman Air Increases Frequency Of Several Flights

Oman Air has boosted frequencies to a few destinations in order to accommodate summertime demand. On July 1, the airline raised the number of flights from 12 to 14 per week to Bangkok and from three to six weekly to Dar es Salaam-Zanzibar. Additionally, it boosted its weekly flight schedule from seven to eleven to Calicut on June 3 and from four to seven flights per week to Phuket on June 17.

2.  Chefs Grégoire Berger & Dani García Host A Special Dinner

The Smoked Room is the newest chef-led dining experience, and it’s home to two of the most skilled chefs in the world. Inspired by the theme “Where Fire Meets Water,” Chefs Dani García and Grégoire Berger are throwing a special four-hands meal. The two complementing yet contrasting components will be the topic of discussion during the special dinner on May 27 and 28. 

3.  RTA Implements Traffic Improvements At Umm Suqeim St. & Al Asayel St. Intersection

In an effort to lessen traffic in Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai (RTA) has made traffic improvements at the congested intersection of Umm Suqeim St. and Al Asayel St. RTA explained the expansion of the right turn from Al Asayel Street to Umm Suqeim Street in a recent post on X (previously known as Twitter). This allows for a separate movement for the U-turn on Umm Suqeim Street for drivers arriving from Al Khail Street. 

4. Ludovico Einaudi To Perform In Abu Dhabi

World-famous pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi is en route to Abu Dhabi. On January 19, 2025, the Etihad Arena will host the classical pro from Turin’s largest performance in the UAE. After three sold-out performances in Dubai in January, Ludovico Einaudi brings his mastery of the genre to the nation’s capital. The soundtracks of several productions have included Einaudi’s minimalist compositions and style.

5. McCafferty’s JVC To Take Over Circle Mall’s Rooftop Level

With the conversion of the Huna Aquatics Centre and Studio X units, McCafferty’s JVC will fully occupy the rooftop level of Circle Mall, resulting in the creation of the largest McCafferty location to date, spanning 30,000 square feet and quadruple the present venue capacity. The 6,000 square foot private event room, pool tables, resident food truck, indoor and outdoor stages, and additional enormous LED screens are just a few of the exciting new additions to the JVC watering hole.

6. Grand Hyatt To Open New Waterpark In Dubai

The new, five-star attraction, Grand Hyatt Waterpark, was announced on May 7 and is scheduled to debut in early 2025. The hotel, which is close to Dubai Creek, already has a spa and beautiful outdoor pools, but they are going to broaden its offerings. There will be fifteen rides, a wave pool, and a section just for young kids and toddlers at this family-friendly water park. 

7. Qatar Airways Won 3 Prestigious Titles

On May 6, in Dubai, Qatar Airways emerged victorious in three esteemed categories at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2024. It includes the best travel app, the best business class, and the best regional airline serving the Middle East. The airline from Qatar has garnered accolades for providing outstanding travel experiences and growing its worldwide network to include over 170 destinations, many of which are in the Middle East.

8. Air India Express Cancels Flights To Middle East

Hundreds of travellers protested on Wednesday when Air India Express cancelled multiple flights from Cochin International Airport to Middle East cities. They demanded new tickets or prompt refunds so they could continue travelling without having to wait around for their trip. Despite the fact that the airlines have not released an official statement on the matter, passengers claim that flight cancellations may put their jobs in jeopardy.

9. DXB Passenger Traffic To Surpass 90 Million

By year’s end, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Airports, head of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), and chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, predicts that passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport will top 90 million. He emphasised that Dubai needs a bigger airport to handle the increasing volume of air travel.

10. Taxi Fares Increase In Dubai

Recently, the Dubai Taxi Company made headlines when they disclosed a fare structure overhaul that affected commuters all around the city. The official notification from the company states that there has been an increase in taxi charges in Dubai. The new rate is AED2.09 per kilometre.

Notably, the base cost stays constant at AED12, guaranteeing consistency in the passenger price structure.
