Republic Day Long Weekend: Surge In Travel

Republic Day is fast approaching and is bringing along with it a long weekend. It seems that Indians are celebrating the long weekend by travelling to some of their favourite destinations. In addition to traditional holiday destinations like Goa, the platform has also seen a rise in family bookings for leisure destinations like Mahabaleshwar, Munnar, Cochin, Pondicherry, Udaipur, Coorg, Manali, and Lonavla.

Additionally, it is highly likely that the flight bookings surge for the republic day long weekend will be higher than that of the New Year’s weekend. From Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, Patna, Guwahati and Lucknow are the most popular destinations, whereas for international flight bookings, Singapore, UAE, and Thailand were the top most booked destinations.

Religious Places Also Witness A Rise In Travel

Indians love to go on darshans of their favourite temples. And of course, since the long weekend is here, it is only natural that Indians head to their most beloved places of worship. Statistics also show that many Indians are planning pilgrimages for the long weekend as bookings for religious places have risen.

There has been a rise in bookings for places such as Varanasi, Tirupati, Puri, etc. This means that not all Indians would be partying away during their long weekend in Goa. Some are planning on spending it simply at a temple.
