G20 Summit: Delhi’s Schools, Banks, Private Offices To Remain Closed From 8-10 September

G20 Summit 2023 is all set to take place in Delhi. The venue of this meeting is Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan. This is the first time when this prestigious meeting where global leaders come together is happening in India. And to avoid any chances of traffic jams or issues with transportation, a government holiday has been announced in the national capital.

Schools, Shops, Banks & More Will Be Shut For Three Days

The upcoming G20 Summit will undoubtedly be a grand event and preparations for this are going on in full swing. Leaders from different economies will be attending this event and to prevent any sort of congestion on the road, the Delhi Police Special Commissioner requested Delhi Chief Secretary to announce a holiday during the meeting, according to a report by NDTV. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approved the proposal and declared a public holiday on 8, 9, and 10 September.

Government offices, banks, shops, private offices, schools, institutions, NDMC marketplaces, and municipal corporations in Delhi will remain shut on the above-mentioned three days. The business and commercial establishments that are coming under the New Delhi district of the Delhi police will be shut as well. Not just a public holiday from 8 to 10 September, but some traffic diversions will also come into action in view of the upcoming G20 Summit.

Major Preparations Are Going On For G20 Summit

Delhi Police is taking several steps and priorotising the proper transportation facilities and security during the G20 meeting. According to reports, police are undergoing a training procedure to tackle any situations with the involvement of chemical weapons. In fact, they took training to improve their soft skills as well. There are probable chances of traffic restrictions in places coming under the New Delhi Municipal Council on these 3 days, according to a report by India.com.

Delhi Police’s 19 markswomen took a special training of 4 weeks. Indo-Tibetan Border Police conducted this training drill in Madhya Pradesh.

Right now the concerned authorities are working on significant steps to ensure the safe continuation of the G20 Summit.
