Aala re aala! Ganpati Bappa Aala! Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner and as one of the biggest festivals celebrated in Mumbai, many people are gearing up for the festivities. Ahead of these preparations and the numerous processions that will take to the street the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued an advisory regarding the roads and routes that will not be open for vehicles to ply on. Here are all the details you need to know.

Ganesh Chaturthi: Mumbai Traffic Police Issues Advisory

According to an article published by mid-day, certain routes will be closed for traffic today. This is because many processions are said to have been organised in the Byculla Traffic Division. Ganpati Aagman, which marks the arrival of lord Ganesha.

The article mentions that northbound and southbound traffic on Dr. B A Road between Comrade Krishna Desai Chawk or Bharat Mata Junction and Hansraj Rathod Chowk or Bawla Compound Junction will be closed.

Further, traffic will also be closed on the Sane Guruji Marg from Chinchpokli Junction or Comrade Ganacharya Junction to Gas Company Junction or Saint Jagnade Maharaj Chowk. In light of the closure of these routes, the Mumbai police have also highlighted alternative routes that people can take.

Alternative Routes That You Can Take

Since the routes mentioned above are closed, the Mumbai police have provided alternative routes that will be available. If the vehicles are heading south on the Dr. B A road and want to head to CSMT, then they should take a right at Comrade Krishna Desai Road, head to the Currey Road bridge to Shingate Master Chowk.

A left turn to N M Joshi Road to Chinchpokli Junction, Abdul Hamid Ansari Chowk or Khada Parsi and towards South Mumbai. People headed north, should take a right at Hansraj Rathod Chowk to T B Kadam Marg and take another right towards Datta Ram Lad. Head to Shravan Dada Yashwant Chowk and take a left onto G D Ambedkar Marg.

Take a left to Shree Sai Baba Marg and head to Bharatmata Junction then continue to right towards Dadar,
