Germany- which is known for its picturesque towns, romantic places, idyllic natural beauty is one of the most-visited European destinations. And now, the beautiful nation is all set to welcome vaccinated international travellers. Read on to know more about it.

The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has confirmed its opening for international tourism. It is allowing vaccinated travellers quarantine-free from several countries- including the UAE and across the GCC. And if Germany is on your mind for summer, then here’s everything you must know before planning the trip.

Who Can Travel To Germany?

At present, Germany is allowing citizens, nationals and residents from EU countries, Switzerland, Australia, Israel, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand. From June 25, vaccinated travellers from countries outside the EU, those from UAE and GCC, will be allowed to enter UAE. From June 27, travellers from Albania, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Macau, North Macedonia, Serbia, Taiwan and the US, with proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test, will be allowed to enter.

Who Needs To Quarantine In Germany?

Travellers from Brazil, the UK and India are on the virus variant areas list in Germany. They have to quarantine for 14 days and cannot end their self-isolation early via a negative test.

Which Vaccines Are Valid And Recognised by Germany?

When it comes to the vaccine, only fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed to enter Germany. Travellers should have taken the second dose at least 14 days before the travelling. At present, the country recognises vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency. The list includes Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. So, UAE-ites who have taken Sinopharm can’t travel to Germany.

Which Airlines Can I Fly With For Germany?

When it comes to flights, UAE’s national carrier, Etihad, is flying to Germany from Abu Dhabi. Germany is on Abu Dhabi’s green list, which means one doesn’t need to quarantine on return. Whereas, for Dubai-ites, travellers can fly with Emirates to Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich.

Things To Keep In Mind Before Taking The Trip 

Travellers are required to register online before travelling; they also have to upload their vaccine certificate on the site. Besides this, travellers should carry a physical copy of their vaccine certificates to show on arrival. For children, who haven’t received a jab, can enter with a negative PCR test, which should be taken no more than 48hours before flying. Depending on the itinerary, travellers should also check with individual German states for the rules before arrival. 

What All Is Open In Germany?

You can visit Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and various other places in Germany.

Museums, architectural sites, galleries, zoos, and so on have slowly begun to reopen in several parts of Germany. Restaurants are too open for outdoor dining. Currently, there isn’t any national curfew in place, but it is up to the federal states to impose and keep individual curfews in place. With all this, wearing a mask in public and social distancing is a must.
