Go On An Adventurous Underwater Submarine Tour Of The Titanic At ₹93 Lakh

You might soon be able to dive 12,800 feet under the water to explore the ‘unsinkable ship’ that had unfortunately sunk after hitting an iceberg. A Bahamas-based company, OceanGate Expedition is planning to introduce submarine expeditions to the Titanic wreckage in 2021. The company is aiming to provide six underwater trips to the steamship in the summer of 2021. The missions will be week-long and the explorations will take eight to ten hours. The manned submersible can carry three guests and two crew members. The cost of the trip is $125,000 ( ₹93,15,312) per person. Meanwhile, the Muruka in the Maldives is the first undersea residence in the world.

Catch The Glimpse Of The Titanic Up And Close, 12,800 Feet Under The Ocean

The largest ship afloat at the time of launch, the Titanic had departed from Southampton on April 10, 1912, carrying some of the wealthiest people in the world. The grand vessel, which was deemed to be ‘unsinkable’ hit an iceberg in the early morning of April 15, and sank deep into the North Atlantic Ocean, killing more than 1500 people out of the 2224 passengers and crew. 35 years later, in 1985, the remains were discovered. If the 1997 romantic movie on the giant ship had inspired your awe, the time has probably come to explore the ship up and close. OceanGate Expedition is launching 12,800 feet deep submarine explorations of the Titanic in summer 2021. Though the cost of the journey is a whopping ₹93,15,312 per person, but the expedition is definitely going to be an experience of a lifetime. Also, did you know that Titanic 2 might sail in 2022?

Citizen Scientists To Get Training To Document The Historic Wreck

Even if you’re the passenger of the submersible, the nature of the trip will be scientific. The company is considering the guests as ‘citizen scientists’. During the journey, OceanGate aims to document the features of the ship using sonar, laser scans and 4k video. They will use the clippings to create a photorealistic virtual 3D model.  The selected ‘mission specialists’ and ‘citizen scientists’ will get hands-on training from the OceanGate experts regarding the same.

Explaining the Titanic Survey Expedition, the OceanGate website mentions, “Missions in 2019 have discovered that the Titanic wreck is degrading rapidly. There will be only a limited number of years left for people to visit and observe the Titanic remnants still standing above the ocean floor.” Meanwhile, here’s a sneak peek into India’s biggest luxury cruise:
