Halloween 2022: SPOOK-tacular Things To Do This Year In India

The traditional Celtic festival, Halloween or All Hallows’ Eve is celebrated on October 31 in major parts of the world. This spooky festival has somehow made its way into the list of Indian festivals and the lives of Indian youths. Theme parties, quirky snacks and ghostly costumes are the essence of these Halloween parties and are celebrated in metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai.

Why Do We Celebrate Halloween?

The Celts that lived nearly 2000 years ago had a festival called Samhain. This festival was celebrated on the night of October 31 and it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to the earth. The sacred bonfires were built by the Druids and people would wear costumes consisting of animal skins and tell each other’s fortunes. Apart from this, people would burn crops and use animals as sacrifice to the Celtic Deities.
