Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh left an impact on a generation of cricket players with his immense skills and never-back-down attitude. His efforts played a big part in India’s win during the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. However, the ace cricketer does not want his son Orion to become a cricketer. Here’s why.
Yuvraj Singh Doesn’t Want His Son To Become A Cricketer
When you have large shoes to fill, the pressure is sometimes too much to handle! And that’s exactly why Yuvraj Singh doesn’t want his son to take up cricket professionally. During a Sunday Brunch at his new restaurant Koca in Gurugram, he opened up about his two kids. When Kamiya Jani asked him if his son also likes cricket, Yuvraj Singh shared that since he has seen him play, he knows and likes the game.
“He is like “Dad, I want to play cricket with you” and I go, “No! I don’t want you to play cricket”, I don’t tell him that, it’s more in my head. I don’t want him to play cricket, for sure. If he wants to play, I will support him but I feel there is too much pressure. To play cricket in today’s society, it’s very difficult. Every kid is compared to his father’s legacy, and I feel that’s very unfair,” Yuvraj Singh shared his concern.
“Sab main woh talent thodi ho sakta hai. Kissi main ho gaya, kissi main nahi ho gaya. Kissi main kissi aur cheez ka talent ho gaya. But, if he wants to play, I will support him,” he further elaborated.

His Equation With His Father & Kids
Yuvraj Singh candidly opened up about his relationship with his parents as well. While he has always been close to his mother, he shared that his relationship with his father was more of a cricket coach than that of a father. Learning from his experience, he shared he doesn’t want that kind of relationship with his kids.
“I don’t want to be ‘coach’ to my kids. I want to be a dad first. If they pick up cricket, golf, or anything else, then I can be their coach. So, I just feel I want to be a dad and I am really having fun just being a dad,” he shared.
