IMD Issues Heatwave Alert For Odisha, Konkan & More; Rain Expected In Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan

We are only in the middle of April and completely frustrated with the intolerable spike in temperature. Stepping out of our houses during the day feels like getting hit by a massive blow torch. Sadly, this is only the beginning of the summer season and the conditions are only going to worsen. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has recently shared updates on heatwaves and the affected places in India.

Recently, IMD Issued A Heatwave Alert!

The weather forecasting agency has stated about heatwave alerts in different parts of the country in the past few forecasts. Till April 20, the warnings for the scary heatwave have been issued. The temperature is likely to rise in several states all around India. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the heatwave is expected to hit coastal Andhra Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan, Kutch, Odisha, Saurashtra, Telangana, and Yanam in the next few days.

The predictions for heatwave look extremely fearful for West Bengal. The state’s southern districts might witness the temperature crossing beyond 40°C during the day. The mercury is likely to soar with the heatwave alert in these districts— Bankura, Birbhum, Jhargram, Purba Bardhaman, Paschim Bardhaman, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Purulia, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas.

Going outside during the day seems like the most impossible task. Unfortunately, people need to step out to go to schools, colleges, offices, and for more reasons. It is extremely crucial to stay hydrated and take good care of our health amid such weather conditions. IMD suggested people stay far away from heat exposure and wear breathable, loose, and cotton clothes. While going outside, make sure to carry an umbrella and protect your head with a hat.
