On Friday, Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir recorded light snowfall yet again. The meteorological department has also forecasted that there will be a significant improvement in the weather in Jammu and Kashmir. Many people have shared breathtaking pictures of the snow-clad landscape of the Union Territory. The snow transformed the already breathtaking landscape into a winter wonderland! In Pictures: Kashmir’s Sonamarg Gets Snowfall

According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times or HT, there was a dry spell in Kashmir which ended on Thursday, 29 November. This is when the first snowfall was witnessed. As per the officials of the meteorology department cited in the article, there will be a significant improvement in the weather across the Union Territory.

Areas located on higher elevations received snowfall on Thursday. Sonamarg received snowfall on Friday as well. Sonamarg is located in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. As per the Met Office, the weather from December 2 to December 7 will be partially cloudy. From December 8 to 10, the weather will be generally to partly crowded.

The article also said that there would be a fall in the temperature by three to five degrees. Even though there was no snowfall in the region, there was a significant spike in the temperature. In Gulmarg and the Valley, temperatures went below freezing point on Thursday night. These stunning images truly seem like glimpses of heaven. The region, after all, is known as heaven on earth.

The minimum temperature in Srinagar, which is known as Kashmir’s summer capital, was 4.5 degrees Celsius. Qazigund witnessed temperatures as low as 2.2 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam, which is located in the Anantnag district of Kashmir recorded temperatures as low as 0.5 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg, too, witnessed a low temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Tourists who currently are in the Sonamarg region are getting a taste of winter in Kashmir. The pristine white snow attracts millions of tourists every year to this marvellous haven. Winter season, though can be risky and cold, is one of the most popular weather in the region. This is all because of the snowfall which attracts tourists in the warmer parts of the country.
