India Opens Doors For All Foreign Nationals Except Tourists

There is an excellent piece of news for International travellers willing to visit Indian. The Union home ministry relaxed visa and travel for Indian and foreign nationals willing to travel to India. However, travellers will still not be allowed in India for tourism purposes. The Government also set certain rules for international travellers to India. Here’s all you need to know.

Tourist Visa Will Not Be Issued

The Government is restoring all categories of visa, for foreign nationals, except electronic visa and tourist visa. Travellers can however, visit for business, employment, conferences studies, research and medical purposes. Indian citizens, overseas citizens of India (OCIs) and people of Indian origin (PIO) will be allowed to enter the country through seaport immigration check ports and authorised airports.

Medical Visa Will Have To Be Applied Separately

There will be graded relaxation in visa. Any foreign national wishing to travel to India for medical treatment, will need to apply for a fresh visa under the same category. Once approved, one attendant of the patient will also be issued visa. Indians Can Travel Visa-Free To Only 30 Countries Instead Of 60 Pre-COVID.

The Government Extended Air Bubble Arrangements To 18 Countries

The government aims to bring normalcy to spur economic growth after a stringent lockdown that has brought the country to a standstill. India recently extended air bubble arrangement to 18 countries including Bangladesh and Ukaraine. India had earlier included more than dozen countries, including Oman, Bhutan, Kenya, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Canada, France, the UK, the UAE, and the US.

Travellers Will Have To Adhere To Government Stipulations

The ministry however warned that all travellers coming to India will have to adhere to government regulations on quarantine and COVID-19 testing.
