A good brunch can take you places, but sometimes, a conversation about food can take you straight back to your college days. That is exactly what happens when Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte join Kamiya Jani for an episode of Sunday Brunch. Hosted at Chef Rajji’s Supper Club in Mumbai, the afternoon is packed with comforting food, candid conversations and a rather interesting trip down memory lane. The table is loaded with delicious treats, including neer dosa, donne biryani, vade, yam sukka, gassi and coconut chutney. But while the spread deserves its own moment, it is Keerthy’s recollection of a rather unconventional sandwich that steals the conversation.

Keerthy Suresh Recalls Her Favourite College Sandwich

And wait, guys, this isn’t some fancy creation with artisanal bread or imported cheese. Its star ingredient? A humble ₹1 packet of achaar! During the conversation, Keerthy Suresh takes us back to her college days, when she had a little food ritual of her own. Right outside her college was a roadside shop where she would often stop for a bite.

Curious about the place, Radhika Apte asks her what kind of shop it was, prompting Keerthy Suresh to explain the little food joint and its offerings. Among them was a sandwich she fondly remembers as the Murukku sandwich.

The Secret Ingredient Was A ₹1 Packet Of Achaar

Now, here’s where things get interesting. The sandwich wasn’t particularly fancy, nor did it need to be. Keerthy Suresh recalls how they would take a regular sandwich and add ek rupaye ka achaar to it. Yes, just ₹1 worth of pickle! That little addition was enough to turn an ordinary sandwich into something she absolutely loved. The combination was so good that she remembers eating it almost every day while she was in college.

And when she describes it as luxury, you can almost understand why. Imagine biting into a sandwich and getting that sudden burst of spicy, tangy achaar. The sharpness of the pickle cuts through the otherwise familiar flavours, leaving just the right amount of zing on your tongue. After a long day of lectures, assignments and everything else that comes with college life, this was the kind of snack that could instantly lift your mood.

There is something rather lovely about how passionately Keerthy remembers this little sandwich. Today, she might be sitting at a beautifully laid-out brunch table, but her idea of a memorable food experience still takes her back to that roadside shop. Honestly, ₹1 achaar turning an everyday sandwich into a college-day luxury? Now that is a food upgrade we can get behind.
