It’s not every day that Harsha Bhogle, the man who’s narrated the highs and lows of Indian cricket for over three decades, turns his focus away from stadiums and scoreboards to speak about an airline. Recently, Bhogle took to social media to praise Air India, an Indian airline, for its efficiency and service, quickly sparking conversation among frequent flyers and fans alike.
Harsha Bhogle Praises Air India
Through this tour, I did four flights on @airindia on the Mumbai-London-Mumbai sector. The quality of on-board service is a given with Indian crews but they were exceptional and I was very happy with the overall flying experience. I can see the change that they have been talking…

When Harsha Bhogle took to X on August 7 to applaud Air India for four “exceptional” flights between Mumbai and London, it caused a stir. In a tweet posted mid-morning, Bhogle shared his recent flying experience with India’s national carrier. He clarified in the same post that this wasn’t a sponsored remark but just a reflection of what he felt. “The quality of onboard service is a given with Indian crews, but they were exceptional and I was very happy with the overall flying experience,” he wrote.
More significantly, he acknowledged a visible shift in the airline’s performance. “I can see the change they’ve been talking about,” he noted, while urging Indians to support and occasionally show patience with the national airline, an institution he believes represents the country at large.
This comes at a time when Air India, now under the Tata Group, is attempting a deep overhaul, fighting off decades of red tape and customer fatigue. Bhogle’s response couldn’t have been better timed.

The Internet Responds
The post drew tens of thousands of views, and the replies quickly revealed just how layered public perception of Air India remains. Many welcomed the note of positivity with open arms. “This is wonderful feedback to read. It’s great to hear that Air India is delivering such a positive experience on the Mumbai-London-Mumbai route,” one user wrote, relieved to hear good news about the carrier.
“The system, approach, and culture of an organization need some time to flourish, and I’m optimistic about the progress ahead!” said another, adding that Bhogle’s post made them more optimistic about the future. One of the most telling responses came from a user who remarked, “Sir, when critics like you praise, then we understand that something has really changed.”
But beneath the cheer sat a familiar discomfort. Not everyone was convinced that the experience Bhogle described is what most passengers will find. “Probably a business class seat,” one user guessed, adding that economy passengers may not find the same “exceptional” standards. “How about economy class?” asked another.

Harsha Bhogle’s tweet did what few posts manage to do; it opened the floor for an honest conversation. And that, perhaps, is exactly what Air India needs right now.
