61% Indians Love Interactive Dining, 22% Attend Concerts Solo, Reveals District X Zomato Report

Gone are the days when people in India spent most of their time on screens. Now, they’re looking for real-life experiences. District by Zomato has released a report called Touching Grass, showing how young people are choosing offline connections. Instead of chasing likes or online approval, people now want experiences where they can be fully present and engage with others.

District By Zomato Report Reveals 4 Shifts In India’s Going-Out Culture

1. Plot-First Culture

People now value experiences for the stories they create, not just for posting content. From quirky raves to cosy coffee meetups, they want events that leave memories. The report shows that 83% of Indian Gen Z join trainer-led community fitness classes for the energy and engagement. District’s Logout series reflects this trend by hosting unique, one-off events where simply showing up has social value.

2. Ambient Belonging

Connection still matters, but in a low-pressure way. People like being part of a group without committing too much. Solo outings are on the rise. And surprisingly, 22% are concertgoers attend alone, and 61% of diners enjoy interactive experiences like open kitchens or meeting chefs.

3. Dual Prime Times

Cities now have two main social peaks—daytime and evening. Dining and wellness activities are growing during weekdays, not just weekends. People love flexible plans that help them balance work, leisure, and hobbies.

4. Revolt Against the Rot

There’s a clear hunger for real, human experiences. People are drawn to hands-on activities like pottery and photography. 80% of Indians now want experiences that recognise their individuality. Texture, materiality, and doing things with your own hands are what give experiences real meaning.
