How Large Is The New Terminal Building?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the new terminal building of Jodhpur Airport on July 4. As per The Times Of India, designed by Sthapati India, the new terminal spreads across 2.52 lakh square feet and has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore. The facility can handle up to two million passengers every year. During peak hours, it can accommodate around 1,000 passengers.
The airport’s design is inspired by Rajasthan’s royal architecture. One of its main attractions is a large dome with a decorative kalash on top of a lotus-shaped base. The new terminal also highlights Jodhpur’s long connection with aviation. The city’s flying journey started in 1931 when Maharaja Umaid Singh set up the Jodhpur Flying Club, and with its design, the new terminal honours this rich history.
