Karnataka Minister for Health and Family Welfare, UT Khader, confirmed the action in a post on X on November 5. He said food safety officers found several violations during their inspection and issued a notice to the establishment. The controversy began on November 5, when Instagram user Mithil Kumar shared a video that appeared to show used beverage glasses stacked together. Kumar alleged that staff at the PVR INOX outlet in Forum Mall were reusing disposable cups to serve customers.
The video quickly gained attention, with social media users questioning the multiplex chain’s hygiene practices and demanding accountability. Following the complaint, food safety officers inspected the outlet at Forum Mall, located near Konanakunte Cross on Kanakapura Road. Khader said the inspection revealed violations of food safety regulations. The authorities then shut down the juice counter and served the establishment a notice. According to the Hindustan Times, in his statement, the minister said food safety officers acted on the complaint about the cups used to serve juice at the multiplex. He also emphasised that food safety regulations apply equally to large brands and smaller vendors.
