For our daily commute in the city, we heavily rely on auto-rickshaws and buses. Buses are one of the most popular modes of transport, thanks to their budget-friendly fares. However, if you’re taking a bus in Karnataka, you might now have to pay a little more as the state has increased fares across its state-run bus services. Scroll down to know more!

Karnataka Revises State-Run Bus Fares

Karnataka has now revised state-run bus fares. This fare hike comes amid rising diesel prices. According to Hindustan Times, Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh announced the decision on November 4, 2026, and it will come into effect from Wednesday midnight.

If you’re travelling in Bengaluru, be ready to pay extra. The minimum fare for city buses has increased from ₹6 to ₹10, while the maximum fare for BMTC buses has gone up from ₹35 to ₹45. Also, fares for AC Vajra buses have increased from ₹75 to ₹90. This fare hike also affects passengers travelling to Bengaluru airport by Vayu Vajra buses. The maximum fare for these airport bus services has increased from ₹405 to ₹425.

What Are The New KSRTC Bus Fares?

The bus fare hike also impacts other state-run bus services across Karnataka, including KSRTC. As for luxury buses, such as Rajahamsa and AC services, KSRTC decides their fares by comparing them with what other bus operators charge for similar services. According to Deccan Herald, the revised fares for KSRTC buses are:

  • Bengaluru to Kolar/Tumakuru: ₹100 (earlier ₹81)
  • Bengaluru to Mandya: ₹136 (earlier ₹110)
  • Bengaluru to Mysuru: ₹197 (earlier ₹160)
  • Bengaluru to Hassan: ₹270 (earlier ₹219)
  • Bengaluru to Chikkamagaluru: ₹363 (earlier ₹295)

During the press conference, Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh initially refused to reveal the exact percentage of the fare hike. However, he later revealed that fares for KSRTC, NWKRTC and KKRTC buses have increased by over 23%. Meanwhile, BMTC bus fares have gone up by 33% to 35%.

Apart from bus fares, travelling by Bengaluru Metro may also become more expensive in the coming years. The revised plan proposes increasing metro fares by 12% every three years.
