After Virat Kohli’s Exit, Bengaluru’s One8 Commune Shuts Down Due To Non-Payment Of Rent

The famous One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru, which was previously owned by cricketer Virat Kohli, has now been shut down following a court order. Apparently, the restaurant was closed due to non-payment of rent and dues exceeding ₹2 crore. Here’s everything you need to know about this latest news.

One8 Commune Restaurant In Bengaluru Now Closed

People who used to dine at the One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru might be a little disheartened to know that the restaurant has now shut down. The restaurant was previously co-owned by Virat Kohli and was known for its aesthetic ambience, upscale rooftop vibe, and a menu that offered lip-smacking dishes like Dal Dhaba, Soya Haleem, Goan Fish Curry and more. The menu also featured Virat’s favourites like Super Food Salad, Tartar Topped on Avocado, and Mushroom Googly Dim Sums. The restaurant previously enjoyed a lot of popularity among his fans as well.

According to a report by India Today, Virat Kohli has already cut ties with this One8 Commune outlet and withdrawn his brand name from the restaurant located near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Reportedly, he distanced himself after repeated compliance issues and notices over alleged fire safety violations in recent years. Now, the restaurant is facing closure due to non-payment of rent, with dues exceeding ₹2 crore.

Restaurant Might Reopen After Clearing All Dues

According to India Today, the restaurant, operated by Trio Hills Hospitality, had defaulted on rent for nearly six months. It also had pending maintenance charges and revenue share. The building owner then moved to the city’s civil court, which ordered the closure of the restaurant until all dues are paid.

Reportedly, the outlet had also received multiple notices from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike for regulatory violations. Moreover, the restaurant was witnessing declining footfall and significant losses after Virat Kohli’s brand exit. Cases were also filed against this restaurant in Bengaluru for failing to provide a designated smoking zone on the premises and for operating beyond permitted hours. So, it is clear that the restaurant might just reopen after it clears all its dues.
