Akasa Air Co-Founder Resigns
Praveen Iyer’s resignation makes him the second senior leader to leave Akasa Air in the past four months. He was part of the founding team when the airline began operations on August 7, 2022, and he also served on its Executive Committee. He helped shape the airline’s commercial strategy from the start.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the airline said that after a five-year journey, Iyer has decided to move on. He will continue working with the leadership team to ensure a smooth transition until April 30, 2026. Following Iyer’s resignation, Akasa Air has appointed its Chief Information Officer, Anand Srinivasan, as the new commercial head.

Airline’s Senior Vice President Resigns
Before, Neelu Khatri, one of the co-founders and Senior Vice President, resigned in October 2025. She was leading the airline’s international operations. After these exits, Akasa Air now has four co-founders, and they are Aditya Ghosh, Anand Srinivasan, Belson Coutinho, and Bhavin Joshi. Vinay Dube. They continue to lead the airline as its founder and CEO.
Moreover, Akasa Air receives strong financial backing from the family of late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. In August 2025, the airline also raised fresh funds from the family offices of Wipro founder Azim Premji and businessman Ranjan Pai. How does this benefit the airline? This new investment helped strengthen the airline’s financial position and support its future plans.
Also, in January, Akasa Air became a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It is a global body that represents more than 360 airlines, including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, and SpiceJet. The airline got this membership after successfully completing the required IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).
