Though we were warned about Cyclone Arnab moving towards Andhra Pradesh, and several precautions were taken, including evacuating people and cancelling trains, it has still caused major destruction. Cyclone Arnab brought heavy rainfall, strong winds and damage to the surrounding areas. Here are all the latest updates!
Cyclone Arnab Hit Andhra Pradesh
Early on Wednesday, October 28, Cyclone Arnab hit the Andhra Pradesh coast between Kakinada and Yanam in Puducherry. As per Hindustan Times report, it brought heavy rainfall and powerful winds, with speeds reaching 125 to 135 kmph and gusts going up to 150 kmph. That’s quite worrying, as such strong winds and rainfall can significantly affect people’s lives.
However, the cyclone weakened into a severe cyclonic storm at 8:30 AM. According to an IMD update around 9:30 AM, the cyclone had completely moved onto land. The natural disaster has affected many parts of Andhra Pradesh. In Kakinada, trees fell, and power lines were damaged. Roads are blocked in areas like Beach Road and Seethammadhara.
