The Food Safety Department took multiple sauce samples for laboratory testing, while unacceptable products were destroyed on the spot. After which, legal action has also been taken against those responsible.

As per a report by WION, a separate inspection carried out at Saroj Narayan Enterprises led officials to collect six samples of green chilli sauce, snack sauce and soya sauce. Of these, around 200 litres of green chilli sauce worth ₹20,000 and 100 litres of snack sauce valued at ₹12,000 were seized after officials discovered that the products lacked the necessary packaging details, including the packing date, best-before date, and ingredient list. At another unit, Spark Home Products, authorities found sauce manufacturing using artificial colours in unhygienic conditions without a valid food licence. The team seized 300 litres of chilli sauce, 200 litres of tomato sauce and 100 litres of soya sauce, while destroying 380 litres of sauce deemed unfit for consumption.
4 Units Sealed Over Rotten Ingredients
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the Food and Drug Administration also launched a major drive against pickle manufacturing units across Kanpur, sealing four facilities for violating food safety regulations.
During a raid at a well-known pickle manufacturing unit in the city’s Jhakarkati area, officials reported that they found pickles being prepared using rotten mangoes, lemons, carrots, cauliflowers and other vegetables stored in foul-smelling, unhygienic conditions. Authorities destroyed nearly 3,000 kg of spoiled raw materials worth approximately ₹2.4 lakh at the site. In addition, prepared pickles valued at around ₹4 lakh were seized, while five samples were collected for laboratory analysis to determine whether they met food safety standards.
