Mumbai May See Temperatures Drop To 34°C As Cyclone Arnab Influences Weather

With Cyclone Arnab making landfall along India’s eastern coast, changing weather patterns are expected to influence conditions in Mumbai as well. Independent meteorologists predict increased humidity, a gradual dip in temperatures and the possibility of light showers towards the end of October. Scroll Down to know more.

Mumbai To Witness Dip In Temperature Due To Cyclone Arnab

While the city’s intense October heat may ease, experts caution that the rainfall may not be strong enough to significantly improve Mumbai’s air quality, unlike during the monsoon.

Mumbai, which has recorded temperatures as high as 38°C in recent weeks, could see the mercury drop to around 34°C. Increased cloud cover during the day is also likely to keep temperatures relatively lower.

Rushikesh Agre, an independent weatherman told Midday, that since Mumbai will also be seeing a lot of cloud cover during the daytime, temperatures can be expected to go lower.

Additionally, across Maharashtra, the cyclone’s northward movement is expected to bring rainfall to parts of the state, including eastern Vidarbha. The Ghat region stretching from Nashik to Satara may also receive showers over the coming days.

What Does The Experts Have To Say?

Independent meteorologist Rajesh Kapadia of Vagaries of the Weather told the news portal , Midday that the cyclone had created a low-pressure area, drawing winds from the Arabian Sea inland and potentially bringing temperatures down by 2°C to 3°C.

On the other hand, Rushikesh Agre added that Mumbai could return to its usual coastal temperature patterns by the end of October, with light rain possible over the weekend, although weather models may change.

Meanwhile, another independent meteorologist Athreya Shetty cautioned that higher humidity could allow water molecules to bind to pollutant particles, potentially reducing visibility and affecting air quality.

However, stronger breezes resulting from circulations over the Arabian Sea could help clear the skies if they are sufficiently intense.
