“Nightmare,” Indian Railways Passenger Forced To Adjust Despite Having Confirmed 3rd AC Tickets

A user on Reddit has recently criticised Indian Railways for a bad experience. The passenger, travelling with his wife and two daughters, found a group of eight people when they boarded their 3rd AC coach. Apparently, the passenger was forced to adjust and hold his children on his lap even after he complained about the situation. Here’s what happened.

Indian Railways Passenger Shares His Bad Experience On Reddit

Paid ₹2000 for 3rd AC tickets only to travel with kids on my lap for 5 hours. The “Co-operate” culture is out of control.

A post shared by u/Exotic-Cut1957 on r/indianrailways on Reddit is going viral. A passenger complained about his “nightmare experience” on the Paschim Express from Surat to Dahod. According to the post, the passenger was travelling with his wife and two daughters. Since it was a short 300 km trip, he did not book separate berths for his children. But when they boarded the coach, they found a group of eight people with at least 25 pieces of luggage. These eight people reportedly had only two confirmed tickets and were returning from a wedding.

The group had kept their bags under the passenger’s seats, leaving no room for their luggage. On top of that, they were also occupying the seating space. When the Reddit user questioned them, they simply replied, “We are stuck, please cooperate.” This angered the passenger, who expressed his frustration in the post.

The passenger also wrote, “What kind of mentality is this? I paid ₹2000 for a service to ensure my family travels comfortably, and yet I spent the entire 5-hour journey with my kids on my lap because ticketless travellers (or those with waitlisted/general tickets) felt entitled to my space. ”

Reddit Users React To The Post

To make matters worse, the TTE allegedly saw the situation and did nothing. The Reddit user further complained about why people pay for AC classes if the experience ends up feeling like a general compartment. He ended his post by saying that if someone does not have a ticket, they should travel in the general compartment instead of taking over someone else’s “3rd AC comfort”.

Many Reddit users were also angry about the incident. One user commented, “For every problem, there is only one solution – calling RailMadad.” Another user wrote, “Sorry this happened. But those people didn’t have a 3rd AC ticket and came to a reserved coach with their 25 pieces of luggage? That’s insane.” Several users wrote that the passenger should have filed a proper complaint instead of only posting on Reddit.
