Narendra Modi recently took to social media to share images from his visit to Kashi’s Baba Vishwanath Temple. In the post, he mentioned that he prayed to Lord Shiva, seeking prosperity and good health for all citizens. He also added that praying to Maa Annapurna and Maa Ganga brought him peace.
This Varanasi temple is one of the most important Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is among the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas. People also know it as the “Golden Temple.” Why? Its domes have gold plating donated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Inside the temple, devotees worship a Shiva Linga placed on a silver platform.

How To Visit Baba Vishwanath Temple?
If you’re planning a visit, you can reach this temple by train, road, or air. The nearest railway stations are Varanasi Junction and Varanasi Cantt. Outside these stations, there are taxis and autos easily available. The nearest airport is Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport, around 25 km away, with taxis and cabs taking about 45 to 60 minutes. There are various bus options available too.
The temple follows a fixed schedule of aartis and darshan. Mangala Aarti takes place from 2:30 AM to 4:00 AM, darshan starts from 4:00 AM and continues till 11:00 AM. Bhog Aarti is held from 11:15 AM to 12:20 PM, and afternoon darshan continues from 12:20 PM to 7:00 PM. Evening Saptarishi Aarti happens between 7:00 PM and 8:15 PM, Shringar Aarti from 9:00 PM to 10:15 PM, and Shayan Aarti from 10:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Special rituals like Rudrabhishek can be done between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM with prior booking.
