Harry Potter Fans Warned Against Walking On Glenfinnan Railway Tracks
As per a report by BBC News, Network Rail Scotland has advised tourists to prevent trespassing on the railway tracks at the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which is said to be one of Scotland’s most popular tourist sights and a famous filming location from the Harry Potter movies.
The warning arrives as West Coast Railways’ Jacobite steam train, widely known as the Hogwarts Express in the film series, returns to its seasonal service. The train operator had originally intended to use its classic Mark 1 coaches but is currently operating with newer Mark 2 coaches after safety rules obliged trains to have an authorised door-locking system.

The Glenfinnan Viaduct, situated near Fort William, attracts more than 600,000 visitors every year. Many people come together to watch and photograph the Jacobite steam train as it passes through the historic viaduct. However, officials claim that some tourists continue to ignore safety obstacles and warning signs in an attempt to get closer to the tracks.
Authorities Urge Visitors To Use Designated Viewing Areas
Neil Cook, Route Crime Manager at Network Rail Scotland, informed guests that the train can be enjoyed safely from specified viewing areas. He reminded people that breaking the rules on the railway is illegal and extremely dangerous, as trains can travel from either direction, are quieter than many expect, and cannot stop quickly.

The caution follows several previous incidents that involved people walking or standing on the pavement. Past cases include families, photographers with tripods, hikers and tourists who required train drivers to brake abruptly to avoid potential accidents.
The authorities are asking all guests to follow safety guidelines and enjoy the famous Hogwarts Express from approved viewing points instead of risking their lives for a photograph.
