This Valentine’s season, Bengaluru Airport saw a record-breaking movement of roses. The airport handled its highest-ever flower shipments, surpassing last year’s numbers.

This year, couples’ way of celebrating Valentine’s season has changed a lot. Moving beyond the usual dinner dates, many chose couple trips. And for those who couldn’t travel, roses were delivered instead. In this, Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport) played a major role. The airport shipped millions of roses to both international and domestic destinations. Scroll down to know more!

How Many Roses Did Bengaluru Airport Ship?

During the Valentine period, BLR Airport handled around 60 million rose stems. What’s even more surprising is that these shipments weighed over 2,700 metric tonnes. From these numbers, you can imagine how massive the scale was. BLR Airport shipped roses to both domestic and international destinations. The highest number of shipments went to cities across India, covering 47 domestic locations, along with 26 international destinations.

The airport also saw some seriously impressive growth compared to last year. The number of rose stems jumped by 38% year-on-year. At the same time, the total shipment weight increased by 64%. Clearly, love was in the air!

Which Places Received The Most Roses?

Domestic rose shipments increased a lot this year. BLR Airport transported 2,402 metric tonnes of roses across India, marking a huge 79% increase compared to last Valentine’s season. The places that received the highest number of roses were Delhi and Kolkata. Other cities that followed close behind were Guwahati, Mumbai, and Jaipur. Another interesting thing was that Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Lucknow recorded more than 150% growth in rose shipments.

International rose shipments remained steady at 305 metric tonnes, showing that love is crossing boundaries. Singapore received the highest number of roses, making it the top international destination. Other major cities that followed close behind included Kuala Lumpur, Abu Dhabi, New York, and Kuwait. This year also brought some exciting additions to the list, with roses reaching new destinations like Los Angeles, London Gatwick, Dallas Fort Worth, Toronto, and Orlando.
