Actress Sameera Reddy moved to Goa and is living a life many dream of! For the recent episode of Curly Tales’ Tere Gully Mein, Sameera took us through some of her favourite neighbourhood food joints and shared some of the dishes that she fell in love with in Goa. Want to know her recommendations? Read on!

Sameera Reddy Reveals Her Favourite Local Eatery In Goa

As Sameera Reddy took us to show the real Goa, she skipped the touristy cafes and headed straight to Shraddha Canteen, which is a local eatery located just five minutes away from her home. Calling it one of her favourite places for authentic Goan food, she recommended trying the Sonak fish thali, with the prized local fish she had earlier introduced at the Mapusa Fish Market. She pointed out that while her family cooks Goan food at home, this is one place they keep returning to for its authentic flavours and local vibe.

She further said that the family usually prefers to make food at home when asked what all they cook at home. She stated, “We make everything at home.” After which, the dishes arrived, and they indulged in a delicious feast. The meal began with a refreshing Kokum Sharbat, which Sameera stated was spicy yet cooling, saying it cleanses the palate perfectly despite its initial kick.

Reflecting on her years in Goa, she said she still wouldn’t call herself a “local Goan”, but every year she learns more about the state’s cuisine and traditions. “I definitely know Goa better now. Having lived here for six years, every year I have more respect for the local food and the local culture,” she shared.

Moving on to their Goan feast, their thali included prawn curry, Kismur (dry shrimp preparation), seasonal vegetable bhaji, Sol Kadhi, and the pan-fried Sonak fish.

Sameera Reddy Shares Her Top Recommendations

When asked about her favourite Goan dishes, Sameera didn’t hesitate to name the iconic Ross Omelette first. She described it as a fluffy omelette served over a rich, flavourful Goan curry and topped with chopped onions.

According to her, every neighbourhood has its own version. Whether it’s Margao, Asagao or Panjim, locals passionately debate which lane serves the best Ross Omelette.

Another dish she highly recommends is Chicken Cafreal, particularly at Laurentine, one of her favourite restaurants in Goa.

She also urged visitors not to miss Cutlet Pav, a beloved Goan street snack available at roadside stalls across Panjim, Bastora, Aldona and several other local neighbourhoods.
