As political unrest continues in northern India, holidaymakers are favouring safer, more accessible alternatives in Southeast Asia. Countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia have seen a rise in visitors from India. Travel agencies report a significant uptick in bookings for these destinations as safety and convenience top the list of priorities for travellers. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, bookings from India have surged by over 250%. The low cost of travel to Southeast Asia is another factor contributing to this shift, making it a desirable option for families and solo travellers alike.

Flight cancellations and the closure of key airports in northern India have disrupted travel plans. With many airports in Jammu, Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh being affected, travel to these areas has become increasingly difficult. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), numerous flights have been grounded due to security concerns. This disruption has led to frustration among tourists who were initially planning to visit the northern states. As a result, many have turned to more reliable and easily accessible destinations abroad.
