“My father and I started this business back in 1991 with rice and veg menu. And today, we sell over 150 kg mutton curry every day.” This is the story of Kishore Bhaina, the owner of the street stall that is India’s highest selling mutton curry stall presently. Located in Bhubaneswar, Kishore and his father started the business in 1991 where they sold a variety of 17 veg items for just ₹15. It was then in 2005, that they decided to slowly shift from making veg foods to selling mutton curry to the customers.

Mutton Curry With Unlimited Rice And Salad At ₹150

The demand grew months after months, starting with 2 kg, then 5kg, to 10kg, now the shop sells 200 kg mutton each and every day. The demand for curry is so high that they sometimes cannot afford it. Kishore’s mutton curry is not only a special delicacy to the common people. Famous politicians and many famed people also are huge fans of this lip-smacking mutton curry. The price of half a plate of mutton curry with unlimited rice and salad is ₹150 whereas the price for a full plate of mutton curry with unlimited rice and salad is ₹200.

Why Do People Love Their Mutton Curry So Much?

Kishore and his food stall stand out as the best because of the mutton they use.  The owner shared that they do not follow any special or exquisite recipe while preparing and cooking. Very common ingredients like turmeric powder, chili powder, cinnamon powder, ginger, garlic are added to make the preparation. The quality of the mutton reflects its taste.

15000kg Of Onions Are Used In A Day To Prepare The Mutton Curry

The owner reaches the market at 4 am every single day to source the best quality meat for his customers. Also, the staff starts preparing at 4:00 a.m., and the spices are already prepared the day before. Around 1500 kg of onions is used in one day. It is completely impossible to prepare a whopping amount of spices and 1500 kg of onion in a single day hence they prepare everything a day prior. The cooking process takes until 10:30 am to complete and the doors for the customers open at 11 am.
