Adam and Cathra Kelliher, the owners of The Broch, Scotland’s Greatest Escape 2024 winner, are husband-wife team who purchased the estate in 2007. The striking structure took three years to construct and was the winner of the eight-week series’ “Unique and Unusual” category. Taransay, the largest deserted island in the UK, is also owned by the couple. Situated in a remote area of Harris, an island in the Outer Hebrides, the Broch accommodates two guests and is somewhat isolated.
Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the lodge offers luxurious accommodations for guests. They have elegantly appointed rooms and suites designed to evoke a sense of warmth and relaxation. The owners claim that this is the first real roundhouse constructed in a few millennia and that their goal was to create the impression that modern amenities had been inserted inside an old ruin. Not only has The Broch enthralled visitors, but it has also garnered significant praise, having been crowned the victor of a TV contest to determine the ultimate Scottish vacation spot.
