After 2 long months since the effective scrapping of Article 370, Jammu & Kashmir will finally be open to tourists again. The Governor Satya Pal Malik lifted the travel ban on October 10th 2019, after holding a security review meeting with the Chief Secretary of J&K and advisors. It’s relieving to know that security restrictions are slowly withdrawn from several parts of the valley over the last six weeks. The governor is putting full efforts to bring life to its normal pace here.
What’s More?
With efforts being made to bring normalcy to Jammu & Kashmir, the state government has decided to reopen government educational institutions, higher secondary schools, restart public transport, open more travel counters at Tourist Reception Centre and even establish 25 internet kiosks in different districts of J&K.

The travel ban was made by the J&K administration on August 2 2019, where it had asked Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and other tourists to immediately leave Kashmir citing looming terror. And on August 5 2019, the Government of India announced the scrapping of Article 370 and the bifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir into two Union Territories. But now after 2 months, the lifting of this very travel ban is bringing about a sigh of relief amongst many potential tourists. On the other hand, critics call this move by the state government a half-hearted approach as the communication blackout still exists. But we hope that over the next few days, along with with the reopening of schools, even the communication in the valley will return to normalcy. Till then travel enthusiasts can cross their fingers and hope to finally explore the picturesque views of the Valley, spiritual temples, the iconic Dal Lake and other attractions of the gorgeous Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir.
