Lucknow’s Famous Tunday Kababi Is Coming To Delhi

Lucknow’s famous Tunday Kababi, which has served the best kebabs to people for so many years, is coming to Delhi’s Chandni Chowk. The place is known for its lip-smacking kebabs with chutney. The texture and taste have been ruling the hearts of people for years and years.

The restaurant, Tunday Kababi, is not only famous in Lucknow or across India, but it has fans across the globe. Yes, and that is how it bagged a place in the guide by Taste Atlas, which named it one of the world’s 150 best legendary restaurants.

Taste Atlas, a Croatia-based experiential travel web guide, has issued a list of eateries that “are not just locations to get a meal but destinations in their own right, akin to the world’s most famous galleries, museums, and landmarks.”

The Story Behind This Legendary Restaurant

Tunday Kababi has received widespread appreciation for its Mughlai food.

This Lucknow kebab shop’s more than 100-year-old history is both fascinating and appealing. One of the nawabs of Lucknow, a die-hard enthusiast of kebabs, had issues enjoying his favored kababs owing to health and tooth concerns.

He decided to conduct a tournament where the softest and juiciest kabab-maker would be granted royal patronage. The winner of the tournament was Haji Murad Ali, who purportedly possessed just one hand. Tunde is an Urdu term meaning “without an arm”.

Other restaurants that ranked on the list from India are Paragon from Kozhikode, Kerala, ranked at No. 11, and Lucknow’s famous Tunday Kababi at No. 12. Peter Cat (Kolkata), Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba (Murthal), Mavalli Tiffin Rooms (Bengaluru), Karim’s (Delhi), and Ram Ashraya (Mumbai) were placed 17, 23, 39, 87, and 112, respectively.
