Metro Rail Kolkata took to its Twitter page @metrorailwaykol to share some beautiful glimpses of the Orange Line’s Kavi Shubhash extension. These are some sneak peeks of the stretch before the commercial metro services begin here.

Metro Rail Kolkata shared on the tweet that they conducted trial runs here on the Orange Line on 1 May 2023. They went through the process of trial runs on this stretch so that they can check the preparedness and all parameters before going ahead with the commercial services on this Kavi Shubhash extension stretch.

Here’s All You Need To Know About This New Stretch Of the Kolkata Orange Line Metro:

  • There has been no confirmation about the date of commencing commercial services on the Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch.
  • According to a report by Financial Express, it is being said that the inauguration will occur this month itself.
  • The estimated cost for the construction of this extended stretch is ₹1,550 crores.

  • 5 metro stations are coming in between the Kavi Subhash-Hemanta Mukhopadhyay stretch. The name of the metro stations on the Orange Line are:
  1. Kavi Subhash (New Garia area)
  2. Satyajit Ray (Hiland Park Area)
  3. Jyotirindra Nandi (Metro Cash & Carry and Ajoy Nagar Area)
  4. Kavi Sukanta (Abhishikta Crossing Area)
  5. Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Rubi Area)

Kolkata Metro Railway is launching the Single Ticket System to travel from Blue Line to Orange Line. Kolkata Metro shared in April that the minimum ticket fare will be ₹20 and ₹45 for the maximum ticket price.
