1. Mumbai, Maharashtra

Mumbai is known for celebrating the Durga Puja festival with traditional Bengali customs and the city’s lively spirit. Large pandals in areas like Shivaji Park and Matunga witness a huge number of devotees every year who come to seek blessings from Goddess Durga. Not only this, but even some famous celebrities like Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Kumar Sanu organise pandals. These Durga Puja pandals also have food stalls serving delicious Bengali dishes.

2. Kolkata, West Bengal

Across the country, Kolkata is known for its unmatched energy during the Durga Puja festival. This city has the highest number of Bengalis, and they celebrate the festival with great happiness and enthusiasm. Pandals in this city attract visitors from all over India and abroad. Over the years, it has attracted people with unique themes and intricate decorations. Some of the famous pandals to visit are Baghbazar Sarbojanin Durgotsav and Ahiritola Sarbojanin Durgotsav.

3. Guwahati, Assam

Celebrating the Durga Puja festival for ten days, Guwahati in Assam mix traditional customs with Assamese culture. Every year, the pandal in this city draws a large number of devotees with its creative ideas. One such example is the pandal at Latasi that features innovative idols and artistic decorations. During this ten-day celebration, pandals organise various fairs, exhibitions, and community events for people to explore Asamese cultural heritage. 

4. Delhi

Every year, Delhi hosts grand Durga Puja celebrations. In the capital, the Bengali neighbourhoods of Chittaranjan Park and areas like Kalkaji are famous for their large, beautifully decorated pandals. Along with old-age customs, the pandal makes the celebration more enjoyable with food stalls filled with sweets and snacks. When in Delhi, you can visit some of the popular pandals like Kashmiri Gate, Kalibari, Mayur Vihar-1, and Chittranjan Park Kalibari. 

5. Patna, Bihar

Over the years, Patna has also become one of the famous cities to visit, especially during the Durga Puja festival. At this place, many neighbourhoods compete with each other for decorations. One of the best aspects of this year’s celebration is that the Patna Municipal Corporation is setting up ten artificial ponds along the Ganga ghats. It will help in eco-friendly idol immersion, reflecting the city’s focus on sustainability, reported DNA India.

6. Kullu, Himachal Pradesh

In Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, Durga Puja is celebrated as a tribute to Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana, symbolising the triumph of good over evil. Known locally as Kullu Dussehra, it is one of the region’s biggest and longest festivals, often lasting a week or more. The best part of this festival is the celebration at Dhalpur Maidan. The sight of glowing mashaals surrounded by the Dhauladhar mountains makes the festival more mesmerising.

7. Pune, Maharashtra

Hindus celebrate the Durga Puja festival with grandeur and seek blessings. In Pune, people celebrate it with many traditions. The festival ends with a big procession and colourful fireworks. The idols of Goddess Durga look beautiful with all the flowers, leaves, and fruit decorations. Like every city, Pune has some of the best pandals to visit, but one of the most famous ones is Congress Bhavan Durga Puja. As one of the oldest pandals, it is a must-visit during the Durga Puja festival. 

8. Hyderabad, Telangana

The Durga Puja festival in Hyderabad is celebrated with immense joy.  During this time, the city comes alive with beautifully decorated pandals, cultural programs, food festivals, and exhibitions. Devotees can engage in various rituals, worship, and enjoy delightful delicacies. Some of the best places to experience Durga Puja in Hyderabad are the Utsab Cultural Association, Nabarun Sangha, Balanagar, and Attapur Bengali Association.
