KSR Station’s Uneven Platform Is Getting A Ramp After Man Draws PMO’s Attention To It

Walking on uneven plains can be extremely dangerous, more so when the uneven plain is of a railway platform. If you trip, you can injure yourself severely. One such platform is located in Bengaluru’s KSR Station. There’s a section that isn’t levelled properly and people regularly trip on it. When Suresh Kumar tripped on the irregular part, he got severely injured. His brother, J Anil Kumar, who is a retired engineer, took it upon himself to amend this situation.

J Anil Kumar made repeated complaints to the Railway department but no heed was taken of his complaints. His brother tripped and fell on Platform 7 of the KSR station in Bengaluru. It happened while he was hurrying to board a train on the platform.

He sustained some serious injuries and therefore, his brother wanted the platform fixed. However, when his complaints to the concerned railway authorities were met with indifference, he wrote a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office. According to an article recently published by The New Indian Express or the TNIE, this immediately got attention.

The article states that the reason that the platform is uneven is because there is a technical issue. It is not merely due to poor maintenance, as per a senior railway official. The official also states that a new ramp will be built over it in order to safeguard people travelling via it.

Kumar found out that many people routinely trip on that platform and in order to prevent any major accidents, the ramp should be built. Certain other measures were taken in order to help people avoid the unevenness.

The retired engineer made multiple attempts to contact concerned authorities via the RailMadad app. The authorities put up reflectors to attract people’s attention so they can avoid it. They even went as far as building railings around the uneven part.

Kumar stated that people end up tripping on the uneven part because they are eagerly waiting for trains to arrive.
